FUEL SWITCH-OVER DAY

Today we continued our purifier system tracing. The most exciting part went like this:

ANDY: Can you show me where this pipe on your drawing comes from? I can't find it.
JENNY: Yeah sure, it starts over here and then it connects to those heaters.
(cadets follow the pipe)
ANDY: Wait, that doesn't connect.
JENNY: Nope, no it doesn't.

So I had to start over, it was super fun.
Then after dinner we returned to the control room for a couple of hours to observe the fuel change. Once we cross the line that marks 200 miles from Honolulu, the ship needs to  be running completely on 1% LSHFO instead of regular fuel. So about an hour before that point the process needs to be started. All the fuel pumps and purifiers need to switch to the 1% fuel and not contaminate it with 3%. Many valves must be opened. While looking at the paper detailing the procedure it was neat to see that we knew the locations of most of the valves needed because we already had found them in the purifier room.

Tomorrow we should reach Honolulu around 0830. Right now our plan is we're going to wander around and...yeah we don't really have a plan.
